In 1946, Viola Desmond was arrested for sitting in a whites-only section of a movie theatre in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia -- nine years before Rosa Parks refused to move from her seat on a bus in the United States. What can Viola Desmond's story teach us about vulnerability, and what it means for someone to expose themselves to danger, whether it's emotional or physical? How does this experience of vulnerability differ depending on the colour of one's skin?
