Who We Are UU Corner
UU Corner

The UU Corner is the place on our website for members and friends to share, showcase, educate, and entertain. Have a graduation, wedding, or other life event you’d like to share? Been writing poetry lately, or have some great pics to share? This is the spot for you!

As new content is added this area of the site will no doubt morph and grow. But it won’t exist at all without input from you!

If you have something to contribute here, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

You can also submit your items directly by becoming an Author* and using the form here.

*To become an Author, first sign up for a password here, then email the Webmaster indicating that you’d like her to please change your status. Then next time you log in you’ll see an Author menu you can use to submit content to the site directly. She will still have to approve anything submitted to the website, but it will be faster for everyone, and your contributions need not be limited to the UU Corner. You can suggest content anywhere!

Webside Pulpit

“When the poet invokes in his splendid frenzy the shining spheres of heaven, the murmuring fountains, and the rushing streams; when he calls upon the earth to hearken and bids the wild sea listen to his song; when he communes with the sweet secluded valleys and the haughty-headed hills, as if those inanimate objects were alive, as if those masses of brute matter were endowed with sense and thought—we do not smile, we do not sneer, we do not reason, but we feel. A secret chord is touched within us; a slumbering sympathy is awakened into life.”

~ Winwood Reade (born December 26, 1838)

UU Bits and Bytes

UU Sources

The official statement of Unitarian Universalist principles describes the "sources" upon which current practice is based:

  • Direct experience of that transcending mystery and wonder, affirmed in all cultures, which moves us to a renewal of the spirit and an openness to the forces which create and uphold life;
  • Words and deeds of prophetic women and men which challenge us to confront powers and structures of evil with justice, compassion, and the transforming power of love;
  • Wisdom from the world's religions which inspires us in our ethical and spiritual life;
  • Jewish and Christian teachings which call us to respond to God's love by loving our neighbors as ourselves;
  • Humanist teachings which counsel us to heed the guidance of reason and the results of science, and warn us against idolatries of the mind and spirit.
  • Spiritual teachings of earth-centered traditions which celebrate the sacred circle of life and instruct us to live in harmony with the rhythms of nature.
