Director of Religious Exploration, Andrea James

Andrea James has been our Director of Religious Exploration for children and youth since May 2008.  As a professional religious educator, Andrea ministers to young people, parents, and families, as part of the whole church.  She is active in the Liberal Religious Educators Association (LREDA) and the Canadian Unitarian Council (CUC), and continues her education through Renaissance Modules and other professional development opportunities.

Following an education in Women’s Studies, Andrea held a number of different roles – writer, arts & community group administrator, and stay-at-home-mom, to name a few.  She managed an outdoor classroom project at her children’s elementary school, and currently serves as its Parent Council co-chair.  For the past few decades, one current running through all interests has been an abiding love for community.

Andrea has been in a book group for over a decade, is drawn to water, and travels with her family whenever possible.  She and her partner Murray have two daughters, ages 15 and 10.

Webside Pulpit

“In everyday life our common sense bids us to follow the guidance of our five senses, but when we seek to probe the reality in which the familiar homely setting of our lives exists we become aware of the mystery which engulfs us.”

~ Henry Wilder Foote (born February 2, 1875)
