Our Whole Lives (OWL) Annual Fundraising Cabaret

February is a busy month for OWL activities with the OWL service on Sunday, February 7th, classes for children in grades K-2 and 5-6 beginning on February 21, and the annual cabaret on Saturday, February 20. The cabaret evening continues to highlight local live music. Following up on last year’s well-attended soulful evening with R & B singer, Flo, this year you can groove to the Steve and Anna-Lisa Kirby Jazz Trio with George Colligan on piano.

Doors open at 7:30 and the performance is from 8-10 p.m. Due to Steve and Anna-Lisa’s high profile in the Winnipeg jazz community; get your tickets early, to avoid disappointment. Tickets are $16 - $12 for students & low income and are available from Brian at 979-9789 or Craig at 794-8528. You can see and hear Steve and Anna-Lisa Kirby on MySpace.

The cabaret is our annual fundraiser for the Our Whole Lives program – a comprehensive, life span, age appropriate, sexuality education program offered by the church. In addition to providing age appropriate information about sexual development, it also helps participants to clarify their values, build interpersonal skills, and reflect on the spiritual, emotional, and social aspects of their sexuality. Please see more information about OWL on the church’s website here.

Webside Pulpit

“A person will worship something, have no doubt about that. We may think our tribute is paid in secret in the dark recesses of our hearts, but it will out. That which dominates our imaginations and our thoughts will determine our lives, and our character. Therefore, it behooves us to be careful what we worship, for what we are worshipping we are becoming.”

~Ralph Waldo Emerson
