Coffee House Program Continues

Please check the Calendar, the RE Special Events page, and Announcements for upcoming Coffee House dates.

The Coffee House is in its second year and is continually changing to meet the expectations and wishes of the attendees and organizers. The Coffee House started out as a multi generational (and mostly in house) night of entertainment but is now becoming a hybrid event that brings together social action, education, music and community. The youth and young-adult communities have been a huge part of getting this program off the ground and continue to help it grow with their combined energy and talent.

Most Coffee Houses are now planned with a specific social focus. For example, on January 21, 2011 Jim Chapryk from the Manitoba Eco Network spoke about how we as a community can contribute to creating a more eco-friendly city. In February,  “Sustainable Agriculture/Healthy Food System...a Global Perspective” was our topic.

We enjoy every Coffee House we put on. People from within and from outside our congregation get up on stage to entertain us with a wide range of talents; including poetry, piano, vocals, guitar and/or bands. Stay tuned for dates and times posted on the website, Communicator, order of service announcements and church weekly emails.

“How do Unitarian Universalists regard Jesus?”

Benjamin Franklin on March 9, 1790, wrote:

“As to Jesus of Nazareth, my opinion of whom you particularly desire, I think the system of morals and his religion, as he left them to us, the best ... but I apprehend it has received various corrupting changes, and I have ... some doubts as to his divinity, tho' it is a question I do not dogmatize upon.”
