Our Mission Statement

E-mail Print PDF

Our church is a community of worship and inquiry.

Our mission is to build from the heritage of our religious experience and the living truths of the world a cohesive set of ethical and spiritual values and to make those values live.

We covenant:

  • to enact social justice and to love our planet,
  • to accept and care for each other,
  • to inspire and guide people of all ages,
  • and to be a source of joy, challenge, serenity and compassion.

Enriched by our diversity and needful of one another, we unite to sustain this place of beauty, hope, healing and celebration.

UU Bits and Bytes

Politics and UUs

Historically, Unitarian Universalists have often been active in political causes, notably the civil rights movement, the gay rights movement, the social justice movement, and the feminist movement.

In the 19th century, Unitarians and Universalists were active in abolitionism, the women's movement, the temperance movement and other social reform movements. The second woman's rights convention was held at the First Unitarian church in Rochester, NY.
