Help Sound Reinforcement Eliminating Feedback

Eliminating Feedback

E-mail Print PDF

Hello, fellow sound people. Here are a few excellent points which we could use in our own sanctuary. As I always promote, the most important thing is to point the mic at your mouth. ~Karin

Not enough gain before feedback? Here is what you can do: (Listed in order of importance)

  1. Move mics closer to sources
  2. Move loud-speakers farther from microphones or move loud-speakers closer to listeners
  3. Reduce the number of open microphones
  4. Pull down sliders for microphones that are not currently in use
  5. Use directional microphones and loudspeaker
  6. Eliminate acoustic reflections near microphones
  7. Reduce room reverberation by acoustic treatment
  8. Use equalizers to reduce system gain at feedback frequencies

There are no other solutions!

“A person will worship something, have no doubt about that. We may think our tribute is paid in secret in the dark recesses of our hearts, but it will out. That which dominates our imaginations and our thoughts will determine our lives, and our character. Therefore, it behooves us to be careful what we worship, for what we are worshipping we are becoming.”

~Ralph Waldo Emerson
