Setup Before the Service
Booth
- Turn amp on.
- Open sound booth.
- Amp is off, turn on power bar, turn on Amp.
- Optional for recording (not amplifying) music/choir/hymns: Set up a mic at the back of the room by a post on a tall mic stand. Plug cable into mic input at front of sanctuary (1-6) or directly into board, turn the channel “On”, and set to “Sub”.
Mics
- Turn down the yellow “To Speakers” sliders.
- Position the pulpit and pulpit mic. Disconnect the mic cable before moving the pulpit. Point the mic at the presenter’s mouth and ask them to review the 10 Commandments document.
- Point the handheld mic down toward the chalice, or pointed down toward the congregation.
- Sound check the mics.
Board
- Set yellow “To Speakers” sliders to the arrow marked on the board.
- The red “Aux” sliders should be down all the way, all the time.
- 48V button “On”, red light is on.
- The cable from the amp in the foyer should be plugged in to “Monitor L”.
- Red “Mono Sum” is around 6 (this goes to the foyer amplifier).
- All Pan knobs at 12:00.
- Main blue dial at right all the way up.
- For all channels in use: “On”, “Aux 3” knob all the way up, “Sub/Mix” set to “Mix”.
- Optional 3rd mic in the back should be “Sub”.
- Set Channels 7 and 8 to “0”.
Prepare the CD Player
- CD player plugged into channel 15 which should be “On” and set to “Mix”. Gain set to zero.
- Fanfare should be in the Disc 1 position. Insert any CDs being used for the service.
Prepare the Tascam CD Recorder for recording the service
- Insert a blank CD.
- The display should read “Analog”. If not, press the “Input Select” button.
- The input dials all the way up.
- Plug in headphones (optional) and set the headphones dial to 12 or 1:00 position. If the signal is too loud, turn down the headphone volume levels on the Tascam, NOT the inputs or the outputs from the board. Don’t rely on the headphone levels for recording levels. Rely only on the visual cues you get from the sound signal display.
