Providing pastoral care for one another is one of the most important roles of members of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Winnipeg.

The Pastoral Care Committee coordinates the role of individual members in listening and responding to others through visits, calls, notes, flowers, and special outreach programs, all of which assist in the creation of a caring congregation.

Members of the Pastoral Care Committee meet monthly and keep in touch as necessary to respond to the pastoral care needs of members of our congregation. A team member is available at the pastoral care table each Sunday morning from September to June to receive messages that members wish to be shared as part of the service, and to lead the Celebrations and Concerns ritual during the service. Team members light candles during the summer for pastoral care concerns to be shared with the congregation.

Committee members may be involved directly in providing pastoral care through written communication, telephone calls, and visits, or indirectly in coordinating contacts by members of the congregation. The Pastoral Care Team also plans and coordinates special outreach programs which currently include the delivery of holiday dainties in December, and potted flowers in May. The delivery of flowers follows a service which highlights the importance all members of our congregation exploring their role in the ministry of Pastoral Care.
