Web Notes April 2011
#1: Link icons
Just installed some cool CSS on the site which adds automatic icons for links. I have a little bit of work to do yet, mostly removing old pdf icons I embedded in articles, and putting some code into "other site" links so that the CSS will work, but it's pretty cool. Automation is grand.
(CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheets, and is the way that the website is formatted.)
#2: Have ideas?
I've been giving a lot of thought to the past year and what has and hasn't been done on the site, and what I want to accomplish with the site next year. This is due to Craig's request that the committee chairs share one thing they've accomplished in the last year, and one thing they would like to accomplish in the next year.
Being a committee of one, I would like to solicit your ideas and feedback about the UU website. So, I would like to know, from you, information such as (but not limited to) the following:
- How do you use the website?
- How often do you use the website?
- What is your favorite part?
- Can you find what you need?
- What would you like to see on the website that is not there now, or if it is there, needs (in your opinion) improving?
This is a short list of questions, but you can send me any of your thoughts, opinions, praises and suggestions for improvement (notice I didn't say "complaints." I'd much rather have ideas about how to make things better). I'd like to form a plan of action for the summer, which has become the traditional "time of renewal and redesign" for the website.
Here is my email address: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
If you don't hear back from me, your email might have gotten "caught" in a spam filter. Feel free to call me (my phone # is in the directory, or you can log in to the site and then go to the contact us page).
Happy surfing,
Karin
