While working in the White House, President Jefferson set out to edit four gospels. He was so convinced the Bible’s true message was hidden that he cut up the pages and reedited it. He wanted to do away with the artificial stuff and restore the genuine doctrines. Some of the controversial changes were removing the virgin birth and the resurrection. He wanted the authentic message of Jesus, such as absolute love, forgiveness, and service rather than the miracle of annunciation. |
