Almost time to celebrate the new deck

As soon as we hit warmer spring weather we hope to have the new railings attached and then commemorate the deck with a celebration event. We hope to celebrate on Sunday May15th - but will need to confirm this date based on installing the railings as soon as the snow is off the deck. Depending on how our budget stretches we will also plan to do some light landscaping on either side of the deck by the house and hopefuly install some brickwork or patio stones at the base of the stairs.

QUESTION.... Does anyone have a good supply of patio stones or bricks they want to donate to the deck project?
Got bricks?

Lois and I are going to give the property project and fund raising a little rest for the balance of 2011 but we know that it also time to start thinking about some longer-term planning for the proposed memorial garden area.

Are there any keeners who would like to help research design options for this project ?

We would like to begin gathering design elements and in 2012 engage in dialogue with the congregation to land on a design for our memorial garden area.

Thanks again to everyone for the ongoing support.

Choosing What We Worship

Ralph Waldo Emerson, in his younger years a Unitarian minister, wrote, “A person will worship something—have no doubt about that. We may think our tribute is paid in secret in the dark recesses of our hearts... but it will out. That which dominates our imaginations and our thoughts will determine our lives and character. Therefore, it behooves us to be careful what we worship, for what we are worshipping we are becoming.” In a world where consumption, financial gain, power and competition tend to shape the common culture, it is all the more important that we choose carefully; that we intentionally shape and clarify what centers our lives; that we experience worship.
