Deck Project and Fundraising - Almost There!

We are delighted to commence plans for building our new deck on the north side of the foyer. The deck will be a lovely addition to our living space.

To date we have raised almost 75% of our $20,000 goal. We still need to raise the final $5000 and one member has come forward with a $2500 donation challenge asking to be matched by other donations. A few people have already committed towards this challenge - please consider joining with a donation to help us reach the goal.

Next steps for the deck project include obtaining the city permits, getting final quotes on materials and Peter Hill Carroll is ready to start levelling the area and then putting in the piles for the deck foundation.

Volunteers Needed For Deck Building

Volunteers Needed to help build our deck - there is a job for everyone !

Saturdays In Late June And Early July

Mark your calendars for some Saturday work time in support of building our deck in late June and early July.

More details to come soon on specific jobs and dates. For now we are gathering names of people who would like to help.

We need help with:

  1. General work crew roles do not require specific carpentry skills - just the physical ability to assist, move materials, lift a wheel barrow etc.
  2. Carpentry crew to work closely with Peter Hill Carroll and build the deck
  3. Support team to help with water, sandwiches, and light clean up around the site

UU Bits and Bytes

UUism is Born

Much more evangelical than Unitarianism, which had a pronounced intellectual and urban ethos, Universalism spread across rural and small-town North America during the 19th and 20th centuries. Through their common emphasis on social action (such as the anti-slavery movement and the later suffragette and birth-control debates) and their evolving theologies of respect for the revelations of secular science, Unitarianism and Universalism drifted closer together, until their eventual official merger in 1961.
